There is NO cost to joining Ride With GPS or doing the following. You may want to begin by taking the Ride With GPS video tutorial at http://ridewithgps.com/help/planning and the advanced route planning video at http://ridewithgps.com/help/advanced-planning-and-editing

  1. Register/Open an Account with Ride With GPS (Free)

  2. Go to the “HOME” page tab, on the left click “Find a Group”, type “Central Oregon Wheelers” Click the name in Results and join

  3. Click “PLAN” tab on top

  4. On the rights side of the page, make sure Follow Roads is highlighted, and the Optimized for Cycling tab is on.

  5. Click on your starting point

  6. Click points on the route to design your route (the first video will help explain this in detail)

  7. When you are done, click the Save button above the cue sheet. Add a name for the route, a description, what the road is like,  add the Central Oregon Wheelers in the Add to group or event line. Make it public. If you have ridden this you can record it as a trip, otherwise no.

  8. Click Save

  9. Now clean up the Cuesheet on the left by clicking on any line in the cue sheet. For example if the cuesheet says stay right, you can highlight this line and delete it or put something more informative. I usually delete cue sheet lines that just take me through a roundabout.

  10. Further you can add something like a Regroup point, Bathroom stop, etc. to the cuesheet. To do this click on the right side “Add to Cuesheet”. Now point on the map to the place you want to add your stop. For type click Right or Water or Food. Under Notes add something like “Stop to Regroup”. Stop to Regroup will be added to the Cuesheet! Click Save.

  11. Now Click Save at the top of the cuesheet again. Click Save (not Save as New)

  12. You can always edit your route or cue sheet, by clicking EDIT in orange near the top right of the page.

  13. It will ask you if you want to see your route, click on it to see it. You can copy the URL - e.g. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/16069332 and use this in your Submit a Ride form.
